You aren’t sure what you expect, but him joining you wasn’t it. “Oh,” you mumble, crawling back under the blankets. Motioning with his hand, he looks at you expectantly through the dark. He shuffles over to his bed and lifts the covers up. You know you can’t handle horror,” he complains quietly, shutting his bedroom door behind him. Before you can say anything, he pulls you up and drags you back to his room. Tsukishima clicks his tongue, standing from the couch. “I… I can’t sleep,” you mumble reluctantly. You can feel pink dusting your cheeks already, and you fiddle with your fingers shyly. His squeeze shut tighter for a moment before one eye opens to look at you.
You lean closer, a lot closer than you think your heart can take. You’ve dealt with Tsukishima this long, this should be no big deal. You practice comebacks to any sort of comment he could throw your way.
Making your way to the living room, you practice what you should say over again in your mind. You could fall asleep just fine- A branch thumps the window, and you fall out of bed. You could already hear him: What are you? Five? Do I need to buy you a nightlight? What a great idea! And then after that, he can make fun of you for the rest of your life! If you were to tell Tsukishima you couldn’t sleep because of some stupid movie, you’d never live it down. You could always get Tsukishima, your mind offered. Shuffling, you attempt to find a position that would make sleeping easier, but you couldn’t. You jumped at every noise the house made. Though the comforting scent of Tsukishima helped calm you a bit, you couldn’t sleep. Letting out a shaky sigh, you slip under his sheets. You open the door quietly, switching off the light. “Just go to bed, (Y/N).” You huff, carefully approaching his room in the dark. He’s so tall, his feet hang over the edge. You stare for a moment, watching his silhouette stretch across the couch. Leaning his head on the arm of the couch, he nudges you off with his foot. “N-no! I thought you’d want to go to your bed.” Tsukishima huffs, setting his glasses on the side table. “Then go to bed,” he states matter-of-factly, “Why’d you have to wake me up for that? Do you need my permission or something?” He rolls his shoulders, stiff from how he was sleeping. “The movie’s over…” He takes off his glasses and rubs his eyes groggily. “Tsukishima,” you mumble, attempting to mask the fear of some fictional monster waiting to attack you. Your hand immediately shoots out to Tsukishima. Then you realize how vulnerable you feel in the dark. The second the screen goes black, you let out the breath you had been holding. Scrambling for the remote, you turn off the TV.
You glance back at the screen, face paling at the sight almost immediately. It wasn’t very often you got the chance to admire him without him noticing and having to think of an excuse as to why.Ī few minutes pass before you realize you’re watching Tsukishima more than the movie. Throughout the rest of the movie, you find yourself glancing back at Tsukishima every so often. His glasses slide down his nose a bit as his chest rises and falls evenly.Ī small, awed smile reaches across your lips before a scream from the main protagonist makes you jump back. Your cheeks feel slightly warmer as you watch him for a moment. Glancing over at Tsukishima, you find him fast asleep. You flinch, curling closer to the back of the couch with every passing moment.

You nearly jump out of your skin as a jumpscare attacks you unexpectedly. It wasn’t even the climax of the movie, and you knew you wouldn’t be able to sleep for a week.
You thought you could handle it, especially with Tsukishima watching it with you. Now you realize you should be careful what you wished for. Maybe he realized he was stuck with you until your parents returned from their trip, and complying was the best way to get you to stay quiet. I want to sleep.’ you imagined him saying. To be honest, you were a bit surprised he agreed.
